Richard A. Hoppes should be named New Chief Of The Fire Department

Richard Hoppes has the experience and knowledge from acting side by side with Chief See over the last few years and has an in depth understanding of the Administration side of things from this valuable time.

His credentials from The Fire Department website are below

"Acting Fire Chief Hoppes began his career with the Salisbury Fire Department as a volunteer in 1985, until he began his career service with the Department in 1988. He has held many operational and administrative positions during his career, including Lieutenant and Training Officer, Captain, Assistant Fire Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief.
Acting Fire Chief Hoppes currently holds certifications as both Maryland and National Firefighter II, Fire Officer IV, Fire Service Instructor III, Emergency Medical Technician-Basic, Hazardous Materials Technician and Incident Commander.
Acting Fire Chief Hoppes has received multiple awards throughout his career, including Unit Citations, Department Commendations, and Meritorious Service Awards. He has been married for twenty-five years and has three children. He and his family are very active in his church.

He is the only choice for both Career and Volunteer alike and Jim Ireton needs to do at least one correct thing in his time as part time Mayor and that's name Rick Hoppes Chief of The Salisbury Fire Department

Always good to promote from within. Good for morale and free. We don't need the expense of a nationwide search. If the man is qualified give him the promotion and let him lead our great Fire Dept. into the future.

Accreditation and Licensure
Within higher education, accreditation is a voluntary nongovernmental process that assures the public of the overall academic, administrative, and financial quality of the organization. Accrediting agencies that meet all federal standards are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Columbia Southern University (CSU) is an accredited member of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) is listed by the United States Department of Education as a nationally-recognized accrediting agency, and is a recognized member of the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

As an accredited, degree-granting member of the DETC, CSU is also an institutional member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). CHEA is a non-profit organization serving as the national advocate for self-regulation through accreditation. Institutional membership is limited to nationally or regionally accredited colleges or universities.

CSU is licensed by the State of Alabama, Department of Post Secondary Education pursuant to the Alabama Private School License Law, Code of Alabama, Title 16-46-1 through 10.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals accepts CSU degrees for both the CSP application and for credit towards recertification in the Continuance of Certification program.

CSU is an institutional member of the American Council on Education (ACE). ACE is the nation's umbrella higher education association. Institutional membership is limited to nationally or regionally accredited colleges or universities.

CSU is an institutional member of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL). CAEL is a national leader in the field of adult learning dedicated to expanding lifelong learning opportunities for adults. Institutional membership is limited to nationally or regionally accredited colleges or universities.

I've know Rick for years. He is a man of great character and outstanding professional capability. Salisbury would be fortunate to have him stay on as chief.

Chief Rick is the clear choice we don't need to waist time or money on a search. We have a very professional Chief that has dedicated his adult life to the SFD. Mayor Ireton this is a no brainer!!!

I also have known Rick for many years. I have great respect for him. I know him through our church and he is an honorable, respectable man, husband and church member. If anyone should be Chief, it's Rick.
